Comic-Con fans beware, you have three weeks to prepare for the online sale of coveted badges for next year’s sure-to-sell-out show.

Organizers of the annual gathering say purchasers will have an opportunity to buy badges for all four days of the convention, plus preview night.

Open registration, as it is known, will begin at 9 a.m. Nov. 14, although a virtual waiting room will open at 7:30 a.m., allowing hopeful attendees plenty of time to arrive by the start of ticket sales. There is no advantage to arriving early.

Next year’s convention will be held be held July 22-25, with preview night on Wednesday, July 21.

Ticket prices range from $67 to $88 for each day of the convention, with discounts offered for teens ages 13 to 17 and for veterans and seniors. Children ages 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

Organizers warn, as they do every year, that the demand far exceeds available badges, given the space limitations of San Diego’s downtown convention center. The massive pop culture gathering typically draws more than 135,000 attendees each year.

“We know that purchasing a badge can be a challenge and we are constantly exploring options to improve your online registration experience,” Comic-Con organizers said. “We will continue to offer deeply discounted rates for juniors, seniors, and active-duty military, as well as one of the most generous free child badge policies in the comic convention industry.”

To join the sale on Nov. 14, purchasers will need to log in to the member ID portal.

But before that, aspiring attendees should ensure they have a valid ID by going to that site to verify their details are up to date. For new participants, they can create an account in advance of the sale at that same site.
