I am guessing being inside a home is a 'safe zone' for the player, hence why he isn't in danger. Bet he loved when Amazon delivery became a thing

I'm betting the game made it so food and other supplies auto respawn the house as long as the resident is still alive inside.

Doesn't seem to be, in part 2 he mentions slowly running out of food, hasn't done a grocery run in a while since the shop closed down.

He doesn't say anything about running out of food just that he would make a grocery run but the store closed long ago, also from what we can see his fridge looks pretty full.

You have a point. Maybe grocery runs are for food you want while the fridge only 'respawns' the last food that was in it? Or just generic video game food, so most prefer to stock up on their food.

It also clearly locked all their ages since this started back in 98 which was 28 years ago and he doesn't look any older.

End of part two mentions it all started back in 1998, and in part one the couple ended up wondering into the town because their electric car ran out of power meaning the present day of the story is likely somewhere around current times if not the future.

Could be flag system. Early victims (Dad and 3 teens) “attacked” Jessica and she attacked in turn, flagging them as PVP eligible. Those flagged might have a way of knowing who else is also flagged.

Subsequent victims could have been provoked into attacking by her stalking them with her changed appearance, but she is stronger since her level is higher so each kill gets easier as no one is on her level.

Either Kevin has never triggered his PVP flag, and thus is safe from Jessica provided he remains such. Or he is someone she hesitates to go after because he is a similar level.

“They could be.” Also suggests that the new arrivals haven’t been flagged PVP yet. Looks like she could have killed them before they’d even noticed her.

Yep he just chose a class that didn't change his appearance (or he uses magic to do it) and he also killed a lot.

Great comic, but I have a bone to pick with the tech history because I don't have better things to do while at work on a Saturday

You drew the computer lab as having iMac G3s, a classic computer of computer labs, but the G3 came out in 1998, when floppy disks were really losing favor to the point that the G3 doesn't even have a floppy disk drive, it came with a CD drive

She wouldn't be able to play the game on it without additional hardware.

1998 is also 5 years after DOOM rocked the world with a shareware version of the game contained in one floppy disk and designed to be copied and shared around, so the idea of a single disk game shouldn't be too alien.

There were external drives you could get for those though, they even matched. My school had a bunch of them because they'd upgrade one computer lab and shuffle the old computers. So we'd use floppys to move files around sometimes. Plus they had some of those digital cameras that used floppys. The yearbook class had the fancy new computer lab, so that room in particular had a bunch of extra external stuff.

My school did not have any external drives to use, but we only really had these computer labs in elementary school so maybe they didn't trust the little kids with extra hardware

My school usually kept that stuff put away. The tracher that did all the IT usually kept all that stuff. But the nice computer labe was also used for yearbook and the digital arts classes, so that teacher had a stash of tging in a locked cabinet. I was one of the few that had to use the external drives a lot, had a PC at home and was in yearbook as well.

Those have the colored speakers of the G3 AIO, but they don’t have the CD drive so it may have meant to be the monitor for the G3 tower… though the tower had a Zip drive instead of a 3.5” floppy, didn’t it?

Bigger issue though is if it worked on OP’s HP, it wouldn’t have worked on Mac OS.
