Where did they even get those masks?
More Taff n' Daisy on the website!

Oh, you don't have one? Everyone else got one when they were born.

she doesn't need it, her face is already like that

I didnt notice the masks at first. That is the most frightening thing imaginable.

I was invited to a costume party last night.
Indeed, my friends and myself were the only people dressed up.

ITS A COSTUME. PARTY. THE FUCK DO THEY EXPECT?!?

It's a party for costumes, they just wore their skin suits so they didn't freak anyone else out.

This is why I have a whole system for costume parties.
Show up in a costume that's low-key and can easily be changed out of. Then bring a second costume that's more elaborate if other people actually put in effort.
Once you've judged the vibe, you can slip away and change out of your costume, change into the more elaborate costume, or just keep the low-key costume if it already matches the vibe.
I've built a lot of my costumes to be sorta modular to make this easier. Instead of multiple separate outfits, I'm just adding and subtracting pieces from one suit.

Honestly gonna have to start doing something similar. I never know the vibes of places until I actually get there. So I'm always either way over-dressed or way under-dressed. I don't usually meet the criteria for whatever outing/event it is, sadly.

What you do then is run around recording a video on your phone where you make fun of all the people showing up to a costume party without a costume.

then, like the old twilight zone episode, at the end of the night, they all take off their masks and the faces all still look like the mask.

My friends and I did this for one of our friends once. He had a very unique style and so for his birthday, without telling him, we had a party where we all dressed as him just to see how long it took him to notice. For the first couple hours he just kept on noticing people's style and saying they looked really good and that everyone was dressed really well that night. Eventually he realized one of the girls was wearing one of his shirts and it finally clued him in that this wasn't us just dressing different but dressing as him.
10/10 great time. Everyone had a lot of fun.

Hmm, there might be an allegory here.

Yes and also no apparently.
16. u/Nestmind · 2026-10-24 14:20 UTC
That is 100 times worse
17. u/Toutatis12 · 2026-10-24 14:05 UTC
... you have now given me a great idea. Muwhahahahaha!
18. u/Flammable_Chipmunk · 2026-10-24 14:23 UTC
The only thing worse would be they all insist they're her and nobody breaks character the whole night

You could just lie to someone and tell them it's a costume party.
(For context, the girl in the wolf onesie was once a 20-something guy until his mad scientist younger sister decided to turn him into a middle school girl. It's a very trans coded anime.)

No one knows how to write a trans adjacent story better than Manga writers for some reason lol
