Today‘s DnDtober prompt was ‘fey.’ Tragic backstories are good motivation for becoming an adventurer. I don’t actually know much about Fey in terms of DnD and if they have any empathy for non fey, but I found the thought of one going to take a memory and seeing the tragic backstory kinda funny.

"Oh, Gunter, I had no idea of your tragic past! What world could be so cruel as to trample upon such a magnificent creature?"

This felt like the most Adventure Time-coded chapter of the comic I've read. I could totally see Fionna getting into this scenario, though I guess Finn would more be the tragic backstory sort.

An even more tragic backstory established in the Fionna and Cake series is that Simon's relationship with Betty wasn't a healthy one.

Holy damn. When your tragedies are so bad the get suddenly decides you must be protected
....couldn't you have taken just a little trauma please. This face has seen so many horrors

The horrors persist, but so do I.

But the trauma is the reason why wizards don't ask how big the room is before casting Fireball. Being able to disassociate means bigger boom.

Fun fact: a not-insignificant amount of wizard trauma comes from that first time casting Fireball before asking how big the room is.

Its the circle of trauma and its the foundation of wizard societies

Wow, the Fey went from seducer to mother….. gods knows what horror the wizard is carrying. Poor thing.

She saw someone she used to know waving at her and waved back. Turns out she was waving at someone behind her. The shame has haunted her ever since.

Or someone said hi and they said hi back and it turns out the other person was using a headset in their other ear.
