I mean that's the holy grail right there. Spend your whole life trying to perfect your art, even Death is polite enough to wait and see it, and you finally get your art just right, before dying at an old age?

It's that or pushing a loved one out of harms way - is how I'd want to go.

In reality you often die before your art feels good enough for you, so you are better of just creating for the sake of it

It's the three-fold-artistic-unfold.

  • A work is done when there is nothing left to remove, not nothing left to add.
  • Art is never really finished anyway, the artist just hops to another work.
  • Artists never love their work, because while others see the work they only see the flaws.
  • So in the end, every work is an uncompleted work full of flaws we want to add more to. That's life!

Ha alternatively, the reaper could say something snarky about it as well

    Great first comic!

Sorry it will be your last.

well that's not true, I'm 75% through making my next comic already. At this pace it will be perfect enough to post sometime around 2040

    It seems death feels differently

This makes me think of the famous cellist, Pablo Casals. He was asked why he still practiced at the age of 90, and his reply was “Because I think I’m making progress.”

    That's gold

A fantastic first comic — I wouldn’t have believed it was your first!

Thanks! I've done art for years but was always too scared to post online until this year. It's my first time making a comic but I've had plenty of art practice
