One of Patrick Stewart's greatest strengths as an actor was his range. From stoic serious to unhinged comedic, he always delivered and never held by. You will be missed.

As much as I’ll miss my beloved ever present Space Dad (who taught a generation of fatherless people how a good man was supposed to be)…
To me, he will always be this foul-mouthed coke-pounding deviant sexual lunatic.

This was always a part of him, and he loved subverting his high-minded erudite veneer with characters like this.
This one was painful

Smith, do you have any Gatorade? I've left all my electrolytes with your daughter

"I... apologize... to the maids at the Red Roof Inn who had to clean the curtains after I wiped Hayley's excitement all over them!"

I don’t know why they added this koala character. He even appeared in this most recent season

He’s cute as a button.

"Steve Smith! Ricky Spanish! Come in we're doing cocaine and shooting guns! I don't know who this woman is but I am INTO IT!"

"And this machine that turns water into cocaine I'll just hang onto that one... Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go party my nose clean off my face. Sort out the rest yourselves."

I'd watched that show for so long thinking "man this guy sounds so familiar" and was straight up flabbergasted when I found out it was him lmao. It rocked my whole world in the best way

For the longest time, I was impressed they were able to get someone who sounded so much like Stewart to play a character obviously drawn to look like Stewart. When I realised it actually was Stewart, my love for the show became cemented.

The fact that it looked like him too didn’t tip you off?

My favourite quote from him in American dad was always “You are a complicated man, Smith. I would love to do mushrooms with you.”

His range was truly incredible. Whether he's a traumatised and tortured captain, a grandfather on a dying world, Scrooge or the Snorlax who speaks for the strippers, he mastered whatever he put his mind to.

When he was on Saturday Night Live as a doctor lecturing small children on the topic of "Just say no to anal intercourse" it was utterly hysterical. He even had a clear cutaway model to show them where it goes.

He was also the voice of the poop emoji in the Emoji Movie.
