Weird, I just noticed Reddit uploaded these images in reverse order... Guess you'll have to read the comic in reverse. Sorry:(

I thought it was on purpose as a subversion of the illusion of safely or something haha.

It makes sense with the title, too. "Text messages". If you check your messages after a bunch came in, you're likely to see the last one first. Though, you'll probably jump up to "last read" after that rather than scroll one by one.

That's exactly what my read on this was. Pretty funny coincidence lol

Dang if that was an accident I think it’s a happy accident. Way creepier this way, actually, to see the images the way you’d read text message; last to first.

See that's where I went, too
7. u/crh23 · 2026-11-02 22:04 UTC
Yeah - the viewer is understanding the story from the perspective of the textee
8. u/TENTAtheSane · 2026-11-02 22:10 UTC
Omg that's genius
9. u/leo6682 · 2026-11-02 20:50 UTC
It is

That was my read, too.
I thought Adam was being tongue-in-cheek when he said it was an accident, and that he had watched Irréversible recently or something.
But shellbullet says this is an actual reddit error that he's been seeing more often. And I don’t think his post reads like he's playing along?

I wasnt sure either at firstbut it was posted exactly like this on every social media with a similar comment. Its 100% intentional
12. u/The_WB73 · 2026-11-02 21:27 UTC
He uploaded it the same way on Patreon with a similar message, so I think it's 100% intentional.
13. u/crh23 · 2026-11-02 22:03 UTC
Likewise on other social media - definitely intentional

I'm shocked that people are taking what is a very clearly playful bit at face value.
The intended effect is that people will read the comic, go to the comments, see the author's "intent" and go back and read it in reverse to get the full experience. I don't know if it's an age thing, time-on-the-internet thing, guillibility thing, or something else.

Ya it's kinda cool in reverse cuz now you're like o shit he's still in there

I thought that it was supposed to represent the killer posing as the girl after killing her in order to make her mother believe she was OK and the whole situation had resolved itself magically
17. u/polarbeargirl9 · 2026-11-02 21:30 UTC
In this situation I guess the curtains really were just blue
18. u/NyxieTheTrainer · 2026-11-02 22:15 UTC
Yeah. The ending where they're allegedly safe feels weirdly ominous and uncertain.
19. u/IJustAteABaguette · 2026-11-02 21:03 UTC
I honestly kind of thought it was intended lol. The murderer being in the house, not finding the kid, escaping just before the police come.
But the mom isn't answering any messages while a murderer is on the loose, so ya know... I thought maybe that was the meaning.
20. u/AnotherRTFan · 2026-11-02 21:16 UTC
I thought maybe he got her & why it was so safe all of a sudden was that the killer was now the one texting
