Are we already blaming not-seated Democrats for Trump? Is that what we're doing?
Good god social media is wholly-owned subsidiaries of America's enemies abroad.

Hello. Non bot Democrat voting America here. It's because historically we haven't done shit to punish the crimes committed by those in power as not to look too "partisan."

Bold take here, but one of the major issues with the Republicans is in fact their willingness to abandon democracy and laws in pursuit of their goals. I think it should in fact take years of investigation to jail a president's political rivals

I'm not saying it should be easy to jail an ex-president... but J6?
5. u/KerPop42 · 2026-11-05 17:55 UTC
Have you forgotten that over 1500 J6ers got convicted? The reason why Trump pardoned them is because they in fact went to jail.

And what consequences did he face?
7. u/KerPop42 · 2026-11-05 18:07 UTC
Sorry, how dare the Democrats, as a minority in both legislative branches, not somehow hold Trump to account for using his presidential pardon?

Democrats held both the house and Senate under Biden initially

They were only barely held democrat and we had to negotiate with Manchin and Sinema if we wanted stuff passed. We had the edge but not by much.

And Trump was on trial for Jan 6 during the 2024 election. He may very well have been in prison right now if he hadn't won.

There's a reason he wasn't tried before he got the chance to save himself by winning. We could have gone after him, but we (Merrick Garland) chose not to.
Titled “Election Year Sensitivities,” the memo warns staff against making statements, taking actions, or charging anybody in a way that might “advantage or disadvantage any candidate or political party.”

You have the political understanding of a boomer.

Oh, you mean what consequences did Trump face for J6? You really have to be more clear, I thought you were talking about the J6ers.
Trump was nearly convicted by the Senate. He was only bailed out because conviction requires 2/3s of the Senate and Bitch McConnell ignored the Senate and told republicans to vote No because the Senate doesn't have the authority to convict a non-sitting president.
Trump's role in J6 was insulated enough that he didn't break any crimes, but he was still investigated for corruption and for stealing classified documents for the entirety of the Biden administration. Trump delayed at every step, and the partisan hacks he put into the Supreme Court backed him up.
The failure to convict Trump is not because Democrats don't have the will to send Trump to jail, it's because Trump and McConnell have thoroughly removed the guardrails of democracy and against corruption in this country.

No, total democrat totalitarianism, if America doesn't become a one party, one donkey state in my life, and send every Republican to labor camps, I will be immensely disappointed
15. u/DoubleJumps · 2026-11-05 20:02 UTC
Biden's doj threw felonies at Trump and J6 folks left and right. The republican supreme court bailed trump out.

The Onion remains one of the more accurate media outlets.

I get why people would be skeptical but like, maybe we can wait for Dems to be in office for 30 seconds before declaring them to be useless? This mind of shit is why we are stuck with Trump again.
Already a ton of different subreddits are working on making sure people are innoculated into thinking Dems did nothing with their new majorites, which they won two days ago.

For real, this comic feels like it was made by a republican to deliberately make people hate democrats. It's idiotic.

That article uses a video from FOX news for goodness' sake and basically uses FOX's own messaging.
Jeffries said that the dems would focus on affordability, which is their mandate. Other ranking committee members have promised investigations and subpoenas.
Don't fall for the agitprop, my fellow citizen!
(There needs to be a meme for 'ate The Onion' for FOX news... Licked the Fox? I dunno. Let's workshop this)
