What is this from?

The movie they made and did very little advertisement for that just came out this year.

And released only on paramount, like the new avatar serie (seven haven, I think).

Both are good, but honestly wtf are they not advetised, it's like they want them to fail...

We must have watched very different movies because outside of the animation I thought it was a pale shadow of the original show.

The difference of geat cookies and good cookies is lost on someone hungry for a snack, I'm just happy there is more avatar.

But even so it was good imo, not too much fanservice and ok plot, for a film it was enjoyable enough.

Yeah I can respect the creators for sticking to their guns and making each avatar series its own thing but no matter how many new protagonists and adventures they make we are always going to keep asking for a series about the Gaang as adults.

Its because the potential for a bunch of amazing stories and world building is right there in the Gaang being adults while with Korra her story is definitively over while with Aang theres the entirety of trying to keep a world that was at war for over a 100 years at peace and repairing the damage in a very post ww2 way.

Idk about korra story being over, there are what happens bewteen the end of the serie and the new one that is yet to be told.

But I know what you mean, korra remaining story/history will be told in the new serie probably, while the gaang have room for more.

A lot more and in Korra they seemed to refuse to tell stories about the original Gaang and just handwaved a lot of it.

Tbf, it let space for new stories.

Sounds like an Iroh-ism. I approve!

You watched the same film, you both have different opinions about it. It’s cool.

14. u/HospitalLazy1880 · 2026-11-06 18:05 UTC

Well they have been very adamant about not wanting to do adult Aang despite the fans really wanting one and still wanting it.

15. u/Adventurous-Mind6940 · 2026-11-06 19:18 UTC

Yeah well everything I've read about the original creators leads me to think they are idiots who got lucky.

16. u/okbuddyquackery · 2026-11-06 19:45 UTC

Can you share anything on this? I remember them backing out of a Netflix series because they felt producers were trying to exert too much control or something. That seemed admirable to me but I didn’t keep up with the story after

17. u/Adventurous-Mind6940 · 2026-11-06 20:01 UTC

The worst one I remember was they had planned for Iroh to be evil. They wanted Toph a big tough guy. I don't remember the rest. But the head writers really kept the producers in the right direction.

18. u/cmdrtestpilot · 2026-11-06 19:13 UTC

On paper it was very solid, but we know the Gaang like we know our own families, and they just seemed to be missing something. The soul wasn't quite there.

19. u/Adventurous-Mind6940 · 2026-11-06 19:20 UTC

For me it suffers the same issue as Korra: our powerful hero gets wrecked only because the plot says they need to be. Even if they are more powerful, have more powers, more training, already learned this lesson, etc.

It was uninspiring but not terrible. The overall theme of post war reconstruction and Aang trying to figure out how to reconcile his past and his Avatar duties felt on point.
