This is amazing. Toph spending her life trying to reach the moon has big "Newton wasting the latter half of his life on alchemy" energy.

But she might actually make it.

I hope Toph is a massive, earth bending Tree Spirit in her swamp in the next one. We've seen that humans can be turned by spirits and it would be a neat way to keep her in the series while giving her a reason not to be involved in the conflict. Because rooted to one location.

This would allow her to defend her claim of greatest earth bender ever.
